Description
What’s special about this guitar: This is a rich sounding vintage J-40 that has matured beautifully. The guitar has a distinct broken-in feel and sound with plenty of volume and it resonates very nicely. The neck shape is very comfortable and really allows for ease of playability. This guitar is a factory second evident by the "Second" indented into the back of the headstock.
Condition: This guitar has an authentic vintage look with scratches, nicks, dings, dents, chips and weather checking throughout the guitar with some light buckle rash on the back. There are a few small cracks along the bottom on the sides that have been reinforced with glue and are holding together fine. Fingerboard and frets have moderate play wear and plenty of life left in them. The nut has a small chip but it does not affect sound, playability or intonation. The neck is nice and straight with comfortable action and the truss rod functions perfectly. A passive Barcus Berry body sensor pickup was added with the output jack installed in place of the endpin.
Body: Double-bound body with solid Spruce to and solid Mahogany back and sides in natural finish. Top-load Rosewood bridge with ivoroid saddle. Tortoise pickguard and multiple inlaid rings around the rosette.
Neck: Slender three-piece maple neck with some nice flame figuring. Dark Rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays and a 1 5/8” nut. Sealed nickel Gibson tuners with nickel buttons, 25.4” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Passive Barcus Berry body sensor pickup. The pickup is wired directly to the output jack so there are no controls.
Weight: 4lbs, 10.0oz.
