Description
What makes this guitar special: A cool rockin' guitar from Gibson's "experimental period" in the '70s, the S-1 features three 'see-thru' single coil pickups designed by Bill Lawrence along with with fairly elaborate circuitry to generate both humbucking & single-coil pickup sounds. Slick black finish & a pro set up from our own luthier, so it's guaranteed to please.
Cosmetic Condition: Used, but not abused with typical wear for a 40-year old guitar - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, buckle rash & some worn hardware. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a nice patina.
Neck: Two-piece maple neck with cream side-dots. You can feel the seam in the back of the neck where the two pieces come together. This is not a break or separation. Dark rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Original frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. Flying V style headstock with S-1 truss rod cover. Original Gibson nickel tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Contoured, solid maple body finished in black. 5-ply black pickguard shows some pick wear, but no cracks. Gibson TP-6 tailpiece with adjustable bridge. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 14.6 oz.
Pickups: Three Bill Lawrence-designed 'see-thru' single coils. 2 way toggle switch and 4 position "chicken head" rotary switch. Master volume & tone controls with black speed knobs. Pots date to '75. All electronics are in perfect working condition.
