Description

What makes this guitar special: Guilds have traditionally played second fiddle to bigger names like Martin & Gibson, but for many players they're every bit as good. This gorgeous dreadnought features a solid spruce top with solid mahogany back & sides. The mahogany neck feels great & is comfortable to play anywhere on the fretboard. Whether you're a heavy strummer or light finger picker, this fabulous D-40 gets the job done!

Cosmetic Condition: Pretty clean for being over 40 - there are various nicks, dents & dings; scratches, pick wear, and some light finish haze in the back of the body & back of the neck, behind the 9th fret (probably from resting in a guitar stand). Overall the guitar looks great & has a wonderful true vintage appeal.

Neck: Nicely rounded mahogany neck with cream side-dots. Rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets show a tiny bit of wear, but have plenty of life in them. Mother of pearl Guild & Chesterfield headstock inlays. Chrome sealed tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod functions.

Body: Solid spruce top with 5-ply binding. Rosewood bridge with cream end pins. It looks as though the bridge may have been reglued at one time, but is perfectly secured to the top with no issues. Tortoise pickguard & multi-ring rosette. Solid mahogany sides & back with single-ply binding. There is no pickup. Guitar weighs 5 lbs 0.3 oz.

Case: Original hardshell case included. The handle was replaced, but the case is in great shape overall.
