Description

What makes this guitar special: The top-of-the-line Carvin model from ’82, this DC-160K is seething with premium quality and top-notch appointments. The body is composed of gorgeous bookmatched solid flame koa, which offers outstanding resonance and unique tonal properties, especially in tandem with the one piece solid koa neck. The ebony fingerboard affords smooth playability up and down the length of the entire instrument, with effortless access to the upper register. To top it off-this piece is VERY clean, recently acquired from the original owner who appears to have barely played it. Professionally inspected and setup by our expert in-house luthier, it’ll arrive ready to play out of the case.

Cosmetic condition: Excellent condition for a 35-year old guitar, with almost no wear to speak of. There are various light surface scratches, nicks, and scuffs, most of which are present only under direct light. The bass side of the lower bout shows some flattening in the clear coat where the arm rests, but is only visible under close scrutiny. For its age, this guitar is a 9/10.

Body: Bookmatched double cutaway solid flame koa body. Compensated gold Schaller bridge with individually adjustable saddles and top-mounted gold tailpiece.

Weight: 7 lb, 12.8 oz

Neck: D-shaped one piece solid koa neck with unbound ebony fingerboard. Pearl side dots and abalone block inlays. Black headstock overlay with abalone Carvin logo and mirrored diamond image. Gold Schaller tuners work great. 1 11/16” nut width, 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight and truss rod functions as it should.

Electronics: Dual Carvin humbuckers (Bridge-7.72k ohms, Neck-7.61k ohms) with 3-way pickup selector switch and black witch hat knobs, 2x tone, 2x volume. Mini-toggles for individual coil tap and master phase switch. Dual outputs for mono and stereo configurations.

Case: Original hard shell case included.
