Description
Description: 1982 The Flatiron 1SH Mandola Mandolin
Condition: Very good overall! There are a couple repaired cracks on the top which are very minor. They are showing no movement and do not affect playability whatsoever. The center seam on the back has partially separated but it holding together and is not affecting sound or playability either (see photos). Fingerboard and frets have light play wear and plenty of life left in them. All parts are original and in excellent working condition.
Body: Teardrop shaped body with solid spruce top and solid maple back and sides in natural finish. Nickel tailpiece and Ebony bridge. Body measures 10 ¾” wide at the widest point and 2 3/16” deep.
Neck: “U” shaped mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, pearloid dot inlays and a 1 ¼” Ebony nut. Four-on-a-strip nickel tuners with ivoroid buttons, 14” scale length.
Playability/Sound: This is a very warm sounding mandola with excellent resonance. The body size produces great volume and attack thanks to the solid top, back and sides. The neck is extremely comfortable and suitable for any playing style.
Case: Includes vintage chipboard case in somewhat rough condition; stitching is coming loose allowing top and sides to come apart. This could easily be taped however.
