Description

What makes this guitar special: A beautiful piece in super clean condition for a 30-year old guitar. This one showcases almost no cosmetic wear, and looks almost new. It’s a bit of an oddity in that it dates to ’87, which is much later than these were produced, and is also finished in natural- a rare color for this model. It has all the fit & finish of your standard 335, but without the f-holes. The selling point on this model was originally the onboard Moog Active Electronics, however, a previous owner modified this one to allow for passive output-giving it a more traditional operative sound. Professionally setup and inspected by the experts at Cream City Music, it’ll arrive ready to play out of the case.

Cosmetic condition: Superb condition for its age, with some light wear throughout. Various small scratches, dents, dings, and dents are present, with some very minor tarnishing on the hardware. The electronics have been modified to allow a traditional passive output (due to the knob configuration, tone manipulation isn’t possible in this mode), with switchable active circuitry. The Moog electronics function, however, the output is lower than normal, and they sound a bit weak compared to the standard output. There is a very slight twist in the neck in the upper register, but this doesn’t hinder playability. Overall, this one is a super clean, all-around great player!

Body: Double bound semi-hollow flame maple body in natural finish with multi-ply tortoise pickguard. ABR-1 bridge with TP-6 tailpiece and black pickup bezels.

Weight: 9 lb, 7.1 oz

Neck: Nicely rounded 3-piece maple neck with black side dots and offset pearl dot inlays. Bound ebony fingerboard is in awesome shape, and original frets only show light wear with a lot of life left. 1 11/16” nut width, 24 3/4" scale length. Bound headstock with pearl Gibson logo and “flying forte” logo. Gold Gibson tuners work great. The truss rod functions, and this thing plays beautifully up and down the length of the board.

Electronics: Dual Gibson Patent No. embossed humbuckers (Neck-6.82k ohms, Bridge-6.97k ohms) with 3-way pickup selector switch and gold speed knobs, 1x volume, 2x tone. Moog Active circuit with mini-toggles for expansion, brightness, and compression. Note: Tone knobs only control the active circuit.

Case: Original hard shell case included.
