Description
A vintage 1961 Ampeg B-12X Portaflex tube combo amp. Arguably the most full-featured amp of its time, the B-12X was not cheap and, conqsequently, very few were ever made. It features 2 channels, harmonic tremolo, and a satellite reverb speaker driven by its own separate power amp.
This example had needed some work when it came to us. One section circuit board had crumbled from years of heat strain. We salvaged as much of the board as possible and completly re-built the power supply. After many hours of restoration, this complex beast is back and fully functional!
Sound-wise, the amp has a tweed-ish midrange, typical of Ampeg amps of the time. The ported, closed-back cabinet contributes tons of solid bottom end--helped by the upgraded Electrovoice speaker. On top of that you get a gorgeous, swirly harmonic tremolo and one of the most unique reverbs ever made--complete with its own dedicated satellite speaker. This rare amplifier has been cleaned and serviced. It is fully functional and sounds fantastic. Includes original caster dolly and footswitch.
