Description
A vintage 1947 Dickerson tube combo amp in player-grade condtion. The exact model is unknown, but it most closely resembles the M-195-4-J. This one was a mess when it came to us. The original field coil speaker was long gone. We replaced it with a nice-sounding vintage Heppner alnico speaker and added the necessary resistor and additional filtering to replace the coil in the power supply. The output transformer, originally mounted to the speaker frame, has been re-mounted to the inside of the cabinet. Finally, we added a grounded AC cord and fully re-capped the power supply for safety and future reliability. Changes aside, a majority of parts are original or era-correct, and the amp still retains its vintage vibe.
Sound-wise, the amp has a great mid-century feel--with a thick, woody clean tone that transitions into a meaty overdrive as you turn it up. This one will make a great little recording or practice amp. It has been cleaned and serviced. It is fully functional and sounds great.
