Description
A rare, thinline hollow body made only for a short time from the mid to late '60s. Very similar to the Riviera model with dual mini humbuckers, however in lieu of a toggle switch the Caiola offers a series of five on/off switches for various pickup tones. Also there is only single volume & tone controls with a single selector switch between them. The guitar produces a warm, woody acoustic tone & the mini humbuckers sound fantastic. Professionally set up by us with fresh strings & low action, so it plays & sounds amazing!
Cosmetic Condition: Used, but not abused, with typical mild play wear for an over 50-year old guitar - various little nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & weather checking. Overall the guitar has a cool vintage vibe with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side-dots. Beautiful Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl block inlays. Original frets show a bit of wear, but have plenty of life in them. Bound headstock with mother of pearl inlay & Grover Rotomatic Pat Pend tuners. 1 11/16" nut width with zero fret; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Double-bound, hollow maple body in cherry finish. Trapeze tailpiece with Caiola Model badge. ABR-1 bridge on a floating base. The pickguard is missing & the guitar weighs 6 lbs 9.4 oz.
Electronics: Dual mini humbuckers with black bezels. Master volume & tone controls with black "witch hat" knobs. Rhythm & Treble pickup switch along with five "tonexpressor" switches. All electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Vintage hardshell case included.
