Description

Epiphone's top of the line archtop electric, this marvelous Zephyr Emperor Regent features a beautifully figured maple body with an 18 1/2" lower bout width & is loaded with a trio of New York single coils that deliver rich, majestic tones. Even before you plug in, the guitar produces a rich, naturally acoustic resonance. Just recently acquired from the family of the original owner & professionally set up by the experts here at Cream City Music so it's ready to play straight out of the case.

Cosmetic Condition: The guitar itself is in pretty decent shape considering it's over 70 years old. However, a good portion of the binding on the guitar had shrunk over the years & needed to be reglued. There are still sections of binding missing here & there throughout the guitar. The pickguard had severely warped over the years & chemically stained the top of the body. It has been removed, but is included with the guitar. There are various little nicks, chips, dents & dings throughout the guitar along with scratches & some finish wear/blemishes. The front of the headstock shows some fairly heavy weather checking. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with an authentic vintage vibe & lovely patina - a true survivor destined to live on!

Neck: Nicely rounded 7-ply maple & walnut neck with aged white binding & black side-dots. The neck was just recently professionally reset & has a replacement heel cap as the original had shrunk, but is included with the guitar. Rosewood fingerboard with abalone & mother of pearl V-block inlays. Frets show a bit of wear, but have plenty of life in them. Bound headstock with mother of pearl Epiphone & Vine of Life inlays. Gold-plated "E" Epsilon-stamped tuners & aged white truss rod cover. 1 11/16" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.

Body: Hollow body archtop with rounded cutaway. 7-ply binding & bound F-holes. Spruce top with maple back & sides. Tortoise pickguard with 3-ply binding has warped & was removed, but is included with the guitar along with the mounting bracket. Frequensator tailpiece with unoriginal adjustable bridge on a floating rosewood base. Guitar weighs 8 lbs 6.1 oz.

Electronics: Three "Tone Spectrum" New York single coils with master volume & tone controls. The volume pot had worn out over the years & needed to be replaced, but the original is included with the guitar. The unique six-button pickup selectors, known as the "Vari-Tone" system, provides versatile pickup combinations. All electronics are in good working condition.

Case: Original Lifton hardshell case included.
