Description

A vintage 1961 blonde Fender Bassman piggyback amp in player-grade condition. This is the rare original 6G6 circuit paired the original 1x12 'Tone Ring' cabinet. The 6G6 Bassman was only produced for a brief period in 1961, and this example is one of the first manufactured. This 6G6 is so early in the production run that the tube chart is that of a 5F6A Tweed Bassman.

This amp came to us in rough shape, with significant modifications. While it can never be restored to collector-grade status, we've returned it to its original sonic glory. The power transformer and choke have been replaced with modern original-equivialents, and the speaker has been replaced with a legendary Electrovoice EVM-12L--cherished for its sonic accuracy and power handling capabilites.

The 6G6 circuit is highly sought-after for its unique, crunchy overdrive tone that bridges the gap between the stereotypical "American" and "British" tones. In breakup the amp has plenty of low-mid chunk, while still maintaing the individual note clarity that defines the Fender sound. In addition, the Tone Ring cabinet projects a tremendous amount of low end without the flubbiness often associated with Fender piggyback bottoms. This rare amp will make a great purchase for any serious player or recording studio. It has been cleaned and serviced. It is fully functional and sounds absolutely fantastic.
