Description
A vintage 1960 Fender Concert Amp 5G12 in very good condition. This early '60 Brownface amp features the rare "pink" tolex. The original Jensen P10Q speakers have been re-coned, and the original handle is gone--replaced with a Blackface-era strap handle. Speakers and cosmetics aside, the amp's circuitry is largely original, with only a few minor component changes. This amp features the same Triad 45249 output transformer as the holy grail 4x10 Tweed Bassman amps.
The brownface circuit is highly sought-after for its unique, crunchy overdrive tone that bridges the gap between the stereotypical "American" and "British" tones. In breakup the amp has plenty of low-mid chunk, while still maintaing the individual note clarity that defines the Fender sound. To top it all off this Concert features Fender's first incarnation of their gorgeous "harmonic tremolo" circuit--delivering a swirly wobble that Fender never surpassed after the Brownface era. This amp has been cleaned, professionally serviced and tested. It is fully functional and sounds absolutely fantastic.
