Description
Made for only a very brief moment between '78 & '79, this gorgeous ES-175 features the Charlie Christian "blade" pickup. The previous owner had added an after-market bridge humbucker along with a 2-way mini toggle switch, which we removed. Not a smart mod in my opinion, but what's done is done. The guitar still looks & plays great, thanks to a pro set up from the experts here at Cream City Music.
Cosmetic Condition: Very clean for being 40 years old. Some minor nicks & dings; mild surface scratches & light finish checking, but overall the guitar looks great!
Neck: Slender profile maple neck with nicely aged cream binding & black side-dots. Rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl double parallelogram inlays. Frets are in great shape with practically no wear. Gibson Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition. We've never seen this model with a "Special Edition" plaque on the back of the headstock, so it's probably not original, but it does look really nice. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Double-bound, hollow maple body with Florentine cutaway & dual F-holes. Trapeze tailpiece with compensated rosewood bridge & 5-ply black pickguard. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 7.8 oz.
Electronics: Original Charlie Christian "blade" pickup with master volume & tone controls. A bridge humbucker had been previously mounted to the top, over the bottom height adjustment screw for the Charlie Christian pickup. It looked ridiculous, so we removed it along with a small mini toggle switch. All electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included.
