Description
Made for only about 20 years from '42 to '62, this model embodies classic Gibson acoustic tone while imparting a different response than the more well-known Jumbos, SJs, Doves, and Hummingbirds. For its size, it has a surprisingly high volume ceiling, thanks to years of play that have allowed it to open up over the past six decades. It has a mild low end in terms of its depth, but quite lively and provides a good amount of punch that extends up into its full and rich midrange. Its top end is bright and crisp with good overall articulation and just a touch of jangle.
Cosmetic Condition: Lots of good, honest play wear, just the way we like to see them - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. There are various cracks in the top & back. One in the back was professionally repaired - glued & cleated. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with an authentic vintage vibe & nice patina.
Neck: Semi-chunky mahogany neck with cream side-dots. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets show a bit of wear, but have plenty of life in them. Open-gear strip tuners work great. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine. There's an added strap button in the neck heel.
Body: Double-bound, small body acoustic. Solid spruce top in sunburst finish. Unoriginal ebony "belly" bridge with mother of pearl dot inlays & cream end-pins. Tortoise pickguard & 3-ring rosette. Solid mahogany back & sides with black end pin. There are no electronics & the guitar weighs 4 lbs 1.2 oz.
Case: Vintage Gibson chipboard case included.
