Description
Recently acquired from the family of the original owner, this lovely 1930's TG-00 is 100% original & not only includes the original case, but an original box of Black Diamond strings is also included with the guitar. Inside the case we found a set list dated Feb 28, 1944 of a number of songs to be performed by the band at a skating party - how fun is that! This gorgeous tenor is feather light yet produces a rich, robust tone. Professionally inspected & set up by the experts here at Cream City Music, so it's ready perform straight out of the case.
Cosmetic Condition: Very nice condition considering it's around 90 years old. There are various little nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches, weather checking & some mild finish wear around the soundhole. There's a tiny bit of binding shrinkage in the body waist. There was a crack in the neck heel that we professionally repaired. Overall, though, the guitar is in great shape & has an ultra cool, true vintage vibe with a beautiful patina.
Neck: V-shaped mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard & mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with almost no wear. Gibson script headstock logo. Grover Pat Pend. tuners work nicely. 1 3/16" nut width; 23" scale length. Neck is straight & plays great up & down the fretboard.
Body: Solid spruce top in super dark sunburst finish with cream binding. Rosewood bridge with black end pins. Firestripe pickguard & 3-ply rosette. Solid mahogany back & sides. Factory order neck stamp reads 636. There are no electronics of course & the guitar weighs a delightful 2 lbs 11.4 oz.
Case: Original chipboard case included - also in great shape.
