Description
Just recently acquired from the family of the original owner! Enjoyed for over six decades & lovingly cared for, this gorgeous 6120 exudes all the charm & elegance this model has come to represent to both players & collectors alike. Featuring a combination of both bird's eye & flame figuring in the body, trestle bracing & of course a pair of PAF FilterTrons for that classic Gretsch sound! These don't come up for sale very often, especially in this condition, so don't miss out on a great opportunity to own an iconic piece of Gretsch history.
Cosmetic Condition: Really great shape considering its age, with only mild play wear - various tiny nicks, dents & dings; surface scratches, light weather checking & a bit of finish wear. Most of the gold has worn off the knobs, tuners & switches. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with an authentic vintage vibe & beautiful patina.
Neck: Maple neck with nicely aged cream binding & red side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl thumbnail inlays. Original frets show some wear, but still have plenty of life in them. Bound headstock with Gretsch & horseshoe inlays. Original tuners work great. 1 11/16" nut width with zero fret; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod functions.
Body: Single-cutaway, hollow maple body with bird's eye & flame figuring in the top, back & sides. Two-ply binding on the top, back & F-holes. Bigsby tremolo tailpiece & trestle bracing. Rocking Bar bridge on an ebony base. The original owner had pinned the bridge with two screws on either side of the base. It wasn't exactly in the correct spot for proper intonation, so we filled the holes in the bridge base, but there are still two tiny screw holes in the top of the guitar. Newer replacement gold plexi pickguard. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 6.4 oz.
Electronics: Pat Applied For FilterTrons with gold bezels. There's a chip out of one corner of the bridge bezel along with a smal crack in the side. Master volume & individual pickup volume controls with "G" Arrow knobs. 3-way pickup & tone filter switches. All electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included. The previous owner screwed a plastic name plate holder to the side of the case which we decided to leave on.
