Description
A true vintage beauty that plays & sounds terrific! The dual SuperTron pickups sound wonderful & produce warm, rich tones. Even acoustically the guitar is quite resonant.
Professionally set up with fresh strings & low action, so it plays & sounds fantastic.
Cosmetic Condition: Good condition for being a nearly 60-year old guitar - various minor nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some tarnish on the hardware. The binding has deteriorated in various spots around the body, but this is rather typical of Gretches from the period. There's some cracking in the binding with a few tiny pieces missing, but not too bad. Overall the guitar has a great look to it, with a cool vintage vibe & gorgeous patina.
Neck: Maple neck with cream binding & red side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl 'thumbnail' & dot inlays. Frets show a bit of wear, but have plenty of life in them.
Bound headstock with Viking plaque riveted to the front. Grover Imperial tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width with zero fret; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in good working condition.
Body: Hollow maple body with 4-ply binding on the top & back and bound F-holes.
The arm for the tremolo tailpiece is broken, but is included with the guitar. The built-in tuning fork was removed, but also included & the internal mute assembly does not function. Gold plexi pickguard with black Gretsch & Viking logos. The back pad is in great shape with no tears or missing snaps. Newer strap buttons. Guitar weighs 8 lbs 14.5 oz.
Pickups: Dual Gretsch SuperTron humbuckers with gold bezels. Master volume & individual pickup volume controls with newer "G" Arrow knobs. 3-way pickup & tone selector switches along with standby switch. All electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included.
