Description
One of the most recognizable basses in the world today is the iconic 500/1 "Violin" bass. We present to you this gorgeous natural finish version made sometime in the '70s we believe. Featuring a solid spruce top with flame maple back & sides; slender profile maple neck & gold hardware. This one offers a gorgeous, acoustic tone & plays like a champ thanks to a pro set up from the guys here at Cream City Music.
Cosmetic Condition: Great shape for its age with only mild play wear & aging - various minor nicks & dings; light surface scratches & some finish checking. Overall the bass looks marvelous & sounds just as good.
Neck: Nicely rounded, slender profile maple neck with dark tortoise binding & white side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl double dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. Bound headstock with Hofner decal logo & mother of pearl double diamond inlays. Open-back tuners with pearloid buttons in perfect working condition. 1 9/16" nut width with zero fret; 30" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Violin-shape body with multi-layer binding on the top & back. Solid spruce top with trapeze tailpiece & adjustable ebony bridge. Multi-layer black/white pickguard & gold hardware. Flame maple back & sides. The clear finish in the back & sides has a light "milkiness" to it, giving it a slightly different shade of natural than the top. Bass weighs 5 lbs 2.7 oz.
Electronics: Hofner "staple" single coils with black bezels. Dual volume controls with "tea cup" knobs. Rhythm/Solo, Treble & Bass switches. All electronics are in good working condition.
