One of the most instantly recognizable basses on the planet, the Hofner 500/1 has been at the forefront of countless numbers of rock groups for over six decades. This example from 1968 has an ultra cool, true vintage vibe to it with a comfortable feel & gorgeous tone. Professionally set up & ready for action straight out of the case.
Cosmetic Condition: Good honest play wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches & weather checking. Overall the bass has a great look to it with an authentic vintage vibe & beautiful patina.
Neck: Rounded maple neck with nicely aged cream binding & black side-dot. Beautifully figured rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets show a bit of wear, but have plenty of life in them. Unoriginal Schaller tuners stamped Made In W. Germany. 1 5/8" nut width with zero fret; 30" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Double-bound, violin-shaped body in sunburst finish. Spruce top with maple back & sides, There's some pretty flame figuring in the back of the body. Nickel trapeze tailpiece with adjustable ebony bridge & pearloid pickguard. Bass weighs 5 lbs 2.6 oz.
Electronics: Dual "blade" single coils with large black bezels. Dual volume controls with "tea cup" knobs. Rhythm/Solo, Bass & Treble switches. All electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included.
