Cosmetic Condition: We recently acquired this marvelous ES-335 from the family of the original owner. Cosmetically the guitar displays the perfect look for its vintage - the previous owner loved & played the guitar, but also took very good care of it over the years. There are various nicks & chips with surface scratches & light finish checking throughout the guitar - very typical play wear. The body shows off some very nice birdseye figuring, mostly on the back & the sunburst finish has aged into a soft ice tea color with a gorgeous patina. The guitar has been professionally set up by us with a fresh set of strings & low action. It is exceptionally resonant & offers brilliant sustain. These later 60's ES-335s are climbing in value so here's a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor!
Neck: Slender profile mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side-dots. Dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl block inlays. There's some minor pitting in the fingerboard, mostly in the first two frets, and the original frets show some light wear, but have plenty of life in them. Original double lip Kluson Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition. The G tuner is just slightly bent, but still functions properly. The black "widow's peak" on the back of the headstock is not concealing a repair. This is original & was done at the factory when the guitar was made. The guitar features the transition nut width - just slightly wider than 1 9/16" but not quite 1 11/16". The neck is straight & the truss rod is in good working condition.
Body: Double-bound, semi-hollow maple body with dual F-holes. Chrome trapeze tailpiece with nickel Gibson ABR-1 bridge & nylon saddles. The 5-ply black pickguard is in good condition with no cracks, but has curved over the years, which is typical. The guitar weighs 8 lbs 2.5 oz.
Pickups: Original Gibson Pat No humbuckers with black bezels. Bridge - 7.23K ohms; Neck - 8.48K ohms. Dual volume & tone controls with gold "top hat" knobs; 3-way toggle switch. All electronics are in perfect working condition.
