Description
A rare Ovation model made for only a brief moment from the late '60s into the early '70s, the Thunderhead features a phase/standby switch, master volume, separate tone controls, pickup balance/blend control & vibrato with gold hardware. Fully inspected & professionally set up with fresh strings & low action so it's ready to play straight out of the case.
Cosmetic Condition: Excellent condition for its age with only some mild play wear - various tiny dents & dings along with surface scratches.
Neck: Slender profile mahogany neck with nicely aged white binding & black side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl diamond & dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with practically no wear. Traditional Ovation headstock shape with gold Schaller tuners. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works perfectly.
Body: Double-cutaway, semi-hollow body with 4-ply top & back binding. Spruce top in walnut finish with bound F-holes. Flame maple back & sides in natural blonde finish. Tremolo tailpiece & adjustable bridge with string mute. 5-ply black pickguard & gold hardware. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 5.8 oz.
Electronics: Dual Ovation single coils with black bezels. Rather than the traditional dual volume & tone controls with 3-way toggle switch, the controls are phase/standby switch, master volume, separate tone controls & pickup balance/blend control. An instruction sheet is included with the guitar to understand how to operate everything. All electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included.
