Description

Your eyes are not deceiving you - this is indeed a true vintage, 1973 Rickenbacker 4001 in exceptionally clean condition! Not only that, but it features the last of the highly desired specs, namely the "toaster top" neck pickup, the checkerboard body binding & the mother of pearl inlays that extend from edge to edge on the fingerboard. This beauty is truly an exceptionally cool & very exciting item here at the shop, so don't miss out on an excellent opportunity to own a remarkable piece of Rickenbacker history. Fully inspected & professionally set up ready to play!

Cosmetic Condition: Wonderful condition considering it's over 50 years old! Mild surface scratches along with some various tiny nicks & dings, but quite clean for the most part.

Neck: Nicely round maple & walnut neck with aged cream binding & black side-dots. Beautifully figured rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl "shark tooth" inlays. Frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. Grover USA closed-back tuners with curved buttons. 1 11/16" nut width; 33 1/2" scale length. The neck is pretty straight for the most part with just a little bit of extra relief around the 12th fret up, but is very playable & not really an issue. Both truss rods are fully functioning.

Body: Neck-thru design with solid maple wings & "checkerboard" top binding. Top-loading tailpiece with adjustable saddles & string mute. Single-ply white pickguard & chrome hardware. Bass weighs 8 lbs 13.4 oz.

Electronics: Dual single coils with "toaster top" in the neck. Dual volume & tone controls with 3-way toggle switch. Mono & Stereo outputs. Pots date to '73 & all electronics are in perfect working condition.

Case: Original hardshell case included.
