Description
Condition: Very good overall. Various surface scratches, nicks, dings and weather checking give this lap steel a beautiful vintage look and vibe. Binding has a nice patina. The bridge is leaving forward just slightly. It is practically un-noticeable and does not affect playability or sound. Frets have hand written numbers. Neck has a very slight bow but as a lap steel guitar this does not affect playability or sound. All electronics and parts are original and in perfect working condition.
Body: Double bound bell shaped body with a rich flame maple top, maple sides and gorgeous quilt maple back in sunburst finish. Nickel tailpiece/bridge and Bakelite control knobs. Back of body un-screws for access to electronics.
Neck: Thick rounded maple neck with bound rosewood fingerboard, pearloid dot inlays, painted frets and a 2 1/16” metal nut. Headstock features Roy Smeck and Recording King logos. Grover tuners with ivoroid buttons, 22.5” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Original single coil blade pickup with master volume and tone controls. Pickup: 2.42K Ohms.
Playability/Sound: The hollow body design of this lap steel gives the sound a warm, open tone. It is definitely warmer sounding than most lap steels from this era. Neck is extremely comfortable and suitable for any playing style.
Case: Includes original chipboard case. Included in the case is a felt back that can be screwed onto the lap steel to prevent scratches.
