Description

What makes this guitar special? This Gibson SJ Deluxe has a lot of character and it shows. Considering its age, this 40 year old guitar is in great shape and plays the same. The top has aged beautifully, while the back and sides have largely maintained their original sheen outside of a few stray love marks from years of being played. The matured tone of this guitar aptly compliments its look, with a robust low end that seamlessly transitions into a rich midrange, while the highs are slightly subdued and stray farther from the fundamental without losing any clarity. The action, profile, and tone of this guitar provide great playability and will surely please players of all types.

Condition: Overall, this Gibson SJ Deluxe is in very good condition. It does have the dings, dents, and scratches that come with 40 years of being played, but cosmetically, still looks great. It does possess two top cracks, one 2-inch crack on the right side upper bout, and another that travels parallel to the neck, under the pickguard, to the sound hole, both of which show no movement and are supported by the bracing as well as the pickguard itself. The neck feels and plays great and the truss rod functions as it should. The frets do show some wear but definitely still have some life left in them.

Body: Bound dreadnought body with a sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides. Replaced rosewood bridge, rosewood bridge pins (1 replaced, black plastic). Tortoise pickguard, 3-ring rosette.

Neck: Mahogany neck with medium round profile. Bound rosewood fingerboard with small block inlays. Gibson Deluxe tuning machines.

Weight: 4 lbs 6.3 oz

Playability/Sound: This Gibson SJ Deluxe has a nicely matured tonality that still projects very well. The medium-round neck profile is classically comfortable and moves easily nut to 14th and with the setup our techs have given it, still plays like a champ at 40 years old.

Case: Hardshell case included.
