Description

What makes this guitar special? This is a super clean Super Axe with all its unique extra features and built-in effects fully functioning and in an uncommon Ebony Stain finish. The figuring underneath the finish is absolutely awesome and looks like a series of sporadic sine waves cresting across the top and back. The finish has changed hue a bit from the original, but looks killer just the same, especially when complemented by the gracefully aged binding. The pickups sound pretty great to begin with, but add in the built-in phaser or compressor and the tonal capabilities reach that much farther. In addition, for a guitar that is nearly 40 years old, it is incredibly clean and still plays like a champ.

Condition: This guitar is in very good condition overall. It does posses various nicks, dings, dents, and scratches, but largely remains very clean, especially for its age, and still looks fantastic. The frets show mild wear but still have a good amount of life left in them. The neck is comfortable and plays well and the truss rod functions but due to its design, doesn’t shift much.

Body: Single cutaway body with multi-ply binding in Ebony Stain. Translucent grey plastic pickguard. Badass wraparound bridge with individually adjustable saddles. Effects plate and black knobs with silver inserts.

Neck: Slim profile laminated rock maple neck and bound flat radius ebony fingerboard with square “dice” inlays. 1 11/16” nut width. Zero fret nut. Chrome sealed Schaller tuning machines. Back-access truss rod.

Electronics: DiMarzio humbuckers. 1 x master volume, 1 tone, 1 x sustain, 1 x blend (phaser), 1 x rate (phaser) control knobs. 1 x on/off compression, 1 x on/off phaser switch. 3-way pickup selector switch.

Weight: 9.3 lbs

Playability/Sound: The slim neck is very easy to move around and comfortable for chords and riffs alike. The built-in effects are unique to say the least, but sound fantastic nonetheless. The basics operate as they should (volume, tone) while the others allow you to dial in the rate and wet/dry blend of the chorus, or the sustain with or without the compressor. This guitar creates a ton of great tones across the board, clean or otherwise.

Case: Includes original hardshell case.
