Catalinbread's Epoch Boost pedal is wonderfully simple. You plug in your guitar, kick on the pedal, and your tone sounds just like your base guitar tone - but as if it's been carefully sculpted by a mastering engineer. Catalinbread achieves this by using the same internal circuitry as the legendary Maestro Echoplex EP-3, used by the likes of Van Halen to East Bay Ray to craft their fabled guitar tones. From the Orange Drop capacitors to the output mixer stage that acts as a rudimentary frequency selector, this Epoch Boost pedal has a wonderfully authentic EP-3 tone. Catalinbread did make a couple of updates to keep up with the demands of the modern performer, though, by boosting the internal voltage to 22 volts and adding a switchable internal hi-Z input buffer, giving you loads of headroom. Using this pedal couldn't be more intuitive - the boost knob gives you a genuine EP-3 tone when rolled off and adds up to 20dB of crystal-clear boost when maxed.
Similarly inspired by the wonderful Maestro Echoplex EP-3, Catalinbread's Belle Epoch Tape Echo pedal has some of the most authentic tape echo sounds you can find in stompbox format. Catalinbread didn't want to create a tape echo pedal that was just a standard digital delay with some "filtering" on the repeats. Instead, they analyzed the elements that made the Maestro Echoplex EP-3 so special, including the preamp, self-oscillation, the decay of the repeats, the 'wow' and 'flutter', and everything in between, implementing these into their very own Belle Epoch pedal. The result is something undeniably magical.
