Description

The Death By Audio Amp Crash Multi-Effects Pedal is a collaboration with Rainger FX that puts something genuinely unusual on your pedalboard: a real 3-watt amplifier driving a real 2-inch speaker, with an internal microphone capturing the result. Rather than digitally simulating a mic'd amp, Amp Crash physically moves air inside the enclosure and lets you blend that microphone signal with the direct amp output. At lower settings it can deliver responsive breakup and overdrive; push the Gain toward Overload and the interaction between the amp, speaker, and microphone opens up fuzz, compression, harmonic feedback, oscillation, and less predictable textures.

Separate DI Out and Mic Out controls let you decide how much direct amplifier and internally mic'd signal reaches the output, while the Mic Gate helps control the microphone when you need a tighter response. Gain and Tone handle the core amp sound, and an onboard effects section adds Reverb, Echo, or Chorus. Depth and Time change function with the selected effect, giving you room-sized to cave-like reverb, tape-style echo, or modulation ranging from flanging into lush chorus. There's also an external speaker output for connecting an 8-ohm minimum cabinet, which automatically disables the internal speaker and turns Amp Crash into a tiny 3-watt amp head.

This is the kind of pedal we'd point toward if conventional distortion, amp simulation, and multi-effects aren't giving you enough physical interaction. It's equally at home as an experimental recording tool, practice amp, noise generator, or a source of genuinely mic'd amplifier textures inside a larger rig. The concept is strange, but the controls keep it practical enough to decide just how far you want to push it.
