The Dr. Scientist Dungeon Crawler Distortion Pedal is built for players who want extreme metal gain with enough control to keep all that distortion focused. Three 2N7000 MOSFET clipping stages provide the core voice, with an emphasis on sharp pick attack, scooped mids, and substantial low end. From there, Dungeon Crawler gives you a detailed EQ section, a separate Grind circuit, dry blending, and an onboard gate, so you can shape a huge amount of gain around your guitar, amp, and playing style instead of being stuck with one extreme distortion sound.
The post-gain EQ provides dedicated Lows, Lower Mids, Upper Mids, and Highs controls centered around carefully chosen frequency ranges, while Thick works before the gain stages at 130Hz to change how the low end drives the distortion itself. Presence adds a resonant, wide-Q boost around 1kHz. The Grind control blends in a silicon NPN rectifier stage that scrambles the high end for a harsher, meaner texture, and Mix brings your buffered dry signal back alongside the distortion. When you need to tighten everything up, the Comparator Gate monitors the input signal with fast opening and closing behavior, and it can be turned completely down when you don't want gating.
A separate Boost footswitch provides a solid increase in both gain and volume, while the main footswitch handles the effect itself. Even the torch lights on the enclosure have a practical job, flashing red in response to peak input signals. We think Dungeon Crawler makes the most sense for players who want genuinely heavy distortion but still want to decide where the weight, scoop, attack, and aggression come from. There's a lot of gain here, but there's also a lot of control over what that gain actually does.
