Description

EarthQuaker Devices Scrolls Bass Odyssey Preamp Pedal is built for bass players who want complete control over their tone, whether that is on stage, in the studio, or running direct. Designed in collaboration with Kentaro Nakao, this pedal is less about adding a single flavor and more about giving you the tools to shape your sound into just about any bass and amp combination you can imagine. It is a strong fit for players who want a flexible, all-in-one tone platform rather than stacking multiple pedals.

The right side of the pedal focuses on the Drive section, delivering tube amp-like overdrive with a lot of control over how it behaves. The Blend knob lets you mix your clean signal back in to keep your low end intact, while the Bandwidth control determines where the clipping sits, from low-end warmth to tighter, more focused high-end drive. On the left side, you get a full active EQ with Bass, Middle, and Treble, along with a Variable Frequency control that sweeps from around 20 Hz to 10 kHz for precise tone shaping. Additional switches like Deep, Process, and Bright give you quick access to low-end boost, mid scoop, and high-end presence without overcomplicating things.

From a usability standpoint, this is built to handle a lot of real-world scenarios. The parallel output lets you send a clean signal elsewhere, while the balanced XLR out with cabinet-style filtering makes it easy to run direct to front of house or an interface. The built-in effects loop sits between the drive and EQ, so you can place modulation exactly where it makes sense in your signal chain. It runs on standard 9V power, features relay-based true bypass on the drive side, and is built in the USA. We like this one for players who want a single pedal that can realistically replace a full bass rig when needed.
