Description

Initially launched in 1968, the Telecaster Thinline started as a way to produce a lighter guitar out of ash. After several redesigns, it began its first full year of production in 1972, and was Fender's first guitar to feature humbuckers and their first Tele with six adjustable saddles. The American Vintage II 1972 Telecaster Thinline pays homage to those early models, and it's perfect for players seeking a premium semi-hollow guitar with a classic look, sound, and feel.

The 1972 Telecaster Thinline sports a curvy pearloid pickguard mounted to a semi-hollow ash body, giving it a period-correct aesthetic and a sweet, resonant sound. Its "C" shaped hard rock maple neck feels nice and comfortable, and its 7.25" radius fingerboard is excellent for playing chords and rhythm riffs. It also has numerous vintage appointments, including a "Bullet" style truss rod nut, a three-bolt neck plate with a Micro-Tilt mechanism, and "F" stamped tuners.

Fender equipped this Telecaster Thinline with a pair of Wide Range humbuckers that give it a rich voice with deep lows, full-bodied mids, and clear highs. These pickups feature CuNiFe magnets, which had been out of production since 1981, and give them a dead-on '70s Telecaster Thinline sound.

The Telecaster Thinline has long been the guitar of choice for Fender fans seeking a Tele with a warmer, rounder, bass-heavier sound. If that sounds up your alley and you love classic Fenders, then the American Vintage II 1972 Telecaster Thinline is an excellent choice.
