In 1964, the Fender Stratocaster went through significant changes - with different pickups, body contours, a redesigned pickguard, and an updated headstock logo, this new-and-improved Strat was a bonafide rock 'n' roll machine. The Custom Shop 1964 Stratocaster is a faithful recreation of that transitional year's model, and it's a truly stellar guitar.
Featuring a two-piece select alder body with a Journeyman Relic lacquer finish, this axe is nearly indistinguishable from a well-gigged vintage Strat. Its quartersawn maple neck has a '63 "C" profile, a 9.5"-radius round-lam rosewood fingerboard, and 21 narrow tall frets, all of which make for an impeccable playing experience.
Powering this Stratocaster is a trio of Custom Shop hand-wound gray bottom '64 Strat pickups with a reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup. Together with the Vintage Modified #2 wiring and Tone-Saver bleed circuit, these pickups churn out a rich vintage tone with deep lows and chiming highs, even at lower volumes.
Other appointments include a three-ply mint green pickguard, a custom shop synchronized tremolo, vintage-style tuning machines, and a genuine bone nut. If you love vintage Strats and rich, spankin' tones, this Fender Custom Shop 1964 Stratocaster is an excellent choice.
