The Friedman Runt-20 packs legendary Friedman tone into a compact, 20-watt, two-channel tube head. Powered by two EL84 tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes, it delivers everything from sparkling cleans to aggressive overdrive. The clean channel features a volume control and three-position bright switch, while the overdrive channel uses a Gain control and Boost switch to cover classic rock crunch through heavy distortion. A global Presence control lets you fine-tune the high-end response.
Custom transformers and a streamlined signal path give the Runt-20 a tight low end, focused midrange, and rich harmonic detail. Chords remain articulate, single notes sing, and the amp responds naturally to your playing dynamics. Even at higher gain settings, rolling back your guitar's volume produces clear, expressive tones. Designed to work well with pedals, the Runt-20 also includes a transparent, buffered series effects loop for delay, reverb, and other effects.
An internal load and analog cabinet-simulated XLR output make the Runt-20 equally useful onstage and in the studio, allowing silent operation without a speaker cabinet connected. The direct output includes speaker emulation with cone center or edge positioning for flexible recording and live use. Finished in black Tolex over a durable Baltic birch cabinet, the Runt-20 combines road-ready construction with versatile tone in a portable package.
