Description

In 1963, Gibson hired famed automotive designer Ray Dietrich to create a radical new solid-body guitar: the Firebird, a striking axe with a thick, punchy tone and an eye-catching design. This Custom Shop 1963 Firebird V is a faithful replica of those first-year guitars, and it's great for vintage Gibson fans seeking a top-notch rock 'n' roll machine.

Starting with a layered mahogany body, the 1963 Firebird V produces a rich sound with deep lows and biting mids. Its neck-through construction gives it plenty of sustain, and its Medium "C" shaped neck fills the hand comfortably. Guitarists will also love its sleek Indian rosewood fingerboard and 22 Authentic Medium-Jumbo frets that play exceptionally well. And thanks to its Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged finish treatment, this beauty is nearly indistinguishable from a real golden-era Gibson.

The electronics in this Firebird have been vintage-spec'd to deliver dead-on '63 Firebird tones. Equipped with Firebird Alnico 5 humbuckers, 500K CTS Potentiometers, and a hand-wired harness, this guitar pumps out an assertive midrange bite with beefy lows and sparkling highs. Just plug it into an old-school tube amp, crank the volume to 11, and you'll be amazed at how rich and authentic it sounds.

Complete with trapezoid fingerboard inlays, deluxe banjo tuners, a Maestro vibrola, and a Pelham Blue finish, this Gibson Custom Shop 1963 Firebird V is the epitome of rock 'n' roll. Whether you're an experienced musician or a savvy collector, this Firebird is a top-notch guitar that's sure to impress with its killer '60s vibe.
