The Gibson Custom Limited Edition 1954 Les Paul Custom Reissue with Humbucker, Heavy Aged in Ebony revisits the first year of the legendary Les Paul Custom, then gives the formula a deliberately unconventional pickup pairing. The original Custom arrived in 1954 as a more refined counterpart to the Les Paul Model, and this limited edition retains the imposing all-mahogany construction, ebony fingerboard, gold hardware, and formal appointments associated with that early design. Murphy Lab Heavy Aging completes the picture, giving the Ebony nitrocellulose lacquer the worn-in appearance and feel of an instrument that has already lived a long musical life.
Unlike later Les Paul Customs with maple tops, this 1954-inspired model uses a solid mahogany body with no weight relief.
