Description

In 1963, Gibson hired famed automotive designer Ray Dietrich to create a radical new solid-body guitar - the Firebird, a striking axe with a thick, punchy tone and an eye-catching design. This Custom Shop 1963 Firebird V is a faithful replica of those first-year guitars, and it's great for vintage Gibson fans seeking a top-notch rock 'n' roll machine.

Starting with a layered mahogany body, the 1963 Firebird V has a rich sound with deep lows and biting mids. Its neck-through construction gives it plenty of sustain, and its Medium "C" shaped neck fills the hand nicely. Players will also love its sleek Indian rosewood fingerboard and 22 Authentic Medium-Jumbo frets that play exceptionally well. And thanks to its Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged finish treatment, this beauty is nearly indistinguishable from a real golden-era Gibson.

The electronics in this Firebird have been vintage-spec'd to deliver dead-on '63 Firebird tones. Equipped with 500K CTS Potentiometers, a hand-wired harness, and Firebird Alnico 5 pickups, this guitar pumps out an assertive midrange bite with beefy lows and sparkling highs. Just plug this beast into an overdriven tube amp, and you'll be amazed at how rich and authentic it sounds.

Complete with trapezoid fingerboard inlays, deluxe banjo tuners, and a Maestro vibrola, this Gibson Custom Shop 1963 Firebird V is the epitome of rock 'n' roll. Whether you're a vetted performer or a savvy collector, this Firebird is a top-notch guitar that is sure to turn heads.
