The Gibson ES Supreme Semi-Hollow in Ebony takes the enduring ES-335 platform and pushes it toward the more refined end of Gibson's modern lineup. The ES-335 has spent decades crossing effortlessly between blues, jazz, rock, soul, and countless styles in between. The ES Supreme builds on that versatility with upgraded appointments, a compound-radius ebony fingerboard, locking tuners, coil-splitting electronics, and an elegant Ebony finish accented by gold hardware. This two-pickup version keeps the familiar ES layout at its core while giving it a distinctly upscale identity.
The semi-hollow body uses three-ply AAA maple, poplar, and maple construction with spruce bracing and a solid maple centerblock. That centerblock gives the guitar the sustain and feedback resistance that have helped make the ES-335 format so useful onstage, while the semi-hollow construction retains the resonance and character players expect from an ES. Five-ply binding adds definition to the body against the opaque Ebony gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, while the gold hardware creates a striking contrast without losing the classic lines of the original design.
A mahogany neck with a Rounded C profile keeps the playing feel familiar and substantial without venturing into oversized vintage territory. The bound ebony fingerboard uses a 10" to 16" compound radius, providing comfortable curvature for chord work in the lower register before gradually flattening out for bends and lead playing farther up the neck. Its 24.75" scale length, 22 medium jumbo frets, and 1.7" Graph Tech nut round out a setup intended to move easily between rhythm and lead work. The ES Supreme also carries some of its most distinctive detailing above the nut. A Burstbucker Pro Rhythm pickup in the neck and Burstbucker Lead Pro Plus in the bridge give the ES Supreme a broad two-humbucker foundation. Traditional independent volume and tone controls make it easy to balance or preset the two pickups, while push/pull volume pots provide coil splitting for additional brighter, leaner sounds. A three-way toggle handles pickup selection, giving players a familiar control layout with extra tonal options available without adding switches or changing the clean appearance of the guitar.
