Description

The Gibson Parlor Rosewood EC Acoustic-Electric in Rosewood Burst packs a surprisingly full acoustic voice into a compact, comfortable design. Its small-body proportions recall a scaled-down version of Gibson's famous Super Jumbo silhouette, while the cutaway and manageable dimensions make it particularly inviting for electric guitarists, lead players, and anyone who finds a larger dreadnought or square-shoulder acoustic cumbersome. With solid rosewood back and sides, a solid Sitka spruce top, and Baggs HiFi DNA electronics, this Parlor is built to be much more than a convenient couch guitar.

The solid Sitka spruce top is supported by traditional scalloped X-bracing and paired with solid rosewood back and sides. That combination gives the smaller body added depth and low-end presence while retaining the clarity and responsiveness that make a compact acoustic so useful for detailed playing. The top receives a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, while the back and sides are finished in satin nitrocellulose lacquer. Multi-ply top binding and single-ply back binding provide a traditional Gibson frame around the compact body, and the Rosewood Burst finish gives the instrument a warm, distinctive appearance. The cutaway also opens up access to the upper register, making lead lines and higher-position chord voicings considerably easier to reach.

The mahogany neck features Gibson's Advanced Response profile, designed to occupy a comfortable middle ground between particularly slim and substantial neck shapes. Its satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish helps keep the playing surface smooth, while the 24.75" scale length provides a relaxed string feel. The bound rosewood fingerboard has a relatively flat 16" radius, 19 standard frets, and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays. A 1.73" TUSQ nut provides familiar acoustic string spacing while keeping the overall neck approachable for players transitioning from electric guitar.

A traditional Belly Up rosewood bridge is fitted with a TUSQ saddle and TUSQ bridge pins, while gold Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners provide precise adjustment in a compact package. The Custom Line tortoise pickguard complements the Rosewood Burst finish, and a two-ply black Bell truss rod cover maintains the familiar Gibson headstock aesthetic. These appointments give the Parlor Rosewood EC an upscale appearance without taking attention away from the rosewood body and compact silhouette.

For live and studio use, Gibson equips the Parlor Rosewood EC with the Gibson-exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA system. Two lightweight sensors are mounted directly to the internal bridge plate and paired with optimized individual preamps, allowing the system to capture the dynamics and character of the guitar without placing a pickup beneath the saddle. Soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls provide convenient adjustments while remaining visually discreet. The active system also offers practical gain before feedback, making this small-body guitar a capable option for amplified performances as well as recording.

At Cream City Music, we think the Parlor Rosewood EC has a particularly useful combination of comfort and versatility. Its compact body is easy to settle into, the cutaway gives lead players considerably more freedom up the neck, and the rosewood construction adds depth and dimension to a format that can sometimes lean toward a more focused voice. With its Rosewood Burst finish, Advanced Response neck, HiFi DNA electronics, and included modern hardshell case, this is a small Gibson acoustic that can comfortably move from relaxed playing at home to recording sessions and live performances.
