Description

This is the new G6120T-55 Vintage Select Edition Chet Atkins Hollowbody. Gretsch has spared no expense to offer the finest recreation of the original “first year” 1955 Chet Atkins 6120. The new model adds a genuine nitrocellulose finish over vintage orange stain and the new TV Jones T-Armond pickups. For a truly authentic 1955 vibe the G6120T-55 features a lightly figured maple top,  just as a many of the originals 6120’s did.  From the bullet shaped truss rod cover, the dark red side position markers, to the “spoon handle” bigsby arm, and so much more, Gretsch has absolutely captured the vibe of what might be considered the quintessential Gretsch guitar.

The original 1955 Gretsch 6120 is big on tone, features and of course personality! The original G6120 is among the most collectable guitars in the world because the feature set it introduced and was revolutionary both in tone, functionality and of course, style. The G6120T-55 recreates the look sound and feel of an original 1955 6120 but with modern dependability and durability. The dual tone bar bracing and T-Armond Pickups yield a warm woody tone with the classic 50’s plunky Gretsch vibe. The tone is clear and strong with tremendous bass response that's very clean and musical and an articulate treble that's bright and snappy without a hint of "brittle" tone. The guitar is perfect for vintage style country western and hard driving rockabilly but is also well suited for many music styles.  A ’55 spec Chet makes a great blues or jazz guitar. This guitar is pure Gretsch quality with top notch fretwork and neck angle providing the perfect playability that the Gretsch Professional Collection is known for. This is a brand new factory first guitar and comes with the deluxe Gretsch hard case, all documentation and the Gretsch Limited lifetime warranty. If you have any questions at all please feel free to give us a call!

Co-designed with the guitarist’s guitarist, Chet Atkins, the venerable 6120 is one of the most widely heard Gretsch instruments. The Vintage Select Edition 1955 Chet Atkins Hollow Body with Bigsby stays true to the original design and astounding classic aesthetics. A veritable tonal multi-tool, this hollow body has an easy-playing, comfortable feel and rings out proudly with That Great Gretsch Sound!™

A pair of TV Jones® T-Armond single-coil pickups creates multi-dimensional tone with plenty of articulate detail.
