Working in collaboration with Berklee College of Music professor and prolific guitar instructor Tomo Fujita, Ibanez created this outstanding new AZES40 AZ Standard guitar. This guitar plays exceptionally well and features all the bells and whistles of a guitar twice its price, making it an incredibly value-packed instrument.
When designing this guitar, Ibanez and Fujita paid special attention to their choice of tonewoods. Pairing a poplar body with a maple neck and a silky-smooth jatoba fingerboard, this guitar has a wonderfully balanced tone with a pleasantly accentuated high-end 'snap'. This breathes life and articulation into your playing, whether you're playing lightning-fast melodic leads or smooth, soulful chords. Beginners and professionals alike will find the neck on this guitar superbly playable, courtesy of its comfortable C shape profile. This neck profile makes gliding up and down the fingerboard a breeze, and with the addition of a deep double-cutaway on the body, you'll have easy access to all 22 frets.
When building this guitar, Ibanez wanted to create a guitar that you could grow with, and that's why they equipped it with an incredibly adaptable single, single, humbucker pickup configuration. The two single coil pickups pump out a bright, full-bodied chime, while the humbucker in the bridge position produces a thick, beefy tone. Along with the 5-way blade for pickup switching, you'll have access to a wide range of tones that'll sound great in any style of music. One of the coolest things about the electronics on this guitar, though, is the ultra-versatile dyna-MIX 9 switch. With a flick of this high-powered switching system, you can unlock an entirely new tonal palette, giving you an extensive amount of sonic versatility.
The meticulous attention to detail Ibanez put into designing this guitar is unprecedented at this price point. Crafted with excellent tonewoods, player-centric ergonomics, and some of the most versatile electronics we've ever seen, this Ibanez AZES40 AZ Standard is a stunning addition to the Ibanez catalog - and it looks amazing in its majestic purist blue finish.
