The JHS Overdrive Preamp is a no-fuss overdrive inspired by DOD's prototype "Big Box" pedal that predated the legendary DOD "Gray Box" 250. While it still retains that beloved vintage tone, the JHS Overdrive Preamp has more volume, grit, and snarl on tap to keep up with the needs of modern players.
The controls on the JHS Overdrive Preamp are simple as can be - the Level knob sets the pedal's overall output and lets you cut or boost the signal, and it has a lot of juice to give. The Gain control adjusts the amount of gain inside the overdrive circuit, going from a subtle tone coloration to a hard-clipped distortion when really cranked. The switch is an entirely new feature that allows users to select between two clipping arrangements based on the circuitry of two different "Big Box" pedals, giving players a whole lot of tones to explore.
All packed up in a sturdy and classic-looking enclosure, the JHS Overdrive Preamp is the perfect pedal for players who want classic overdrive tones with some fierce modern growl layered in.
