Description
Here's something that doesn't pop up every day - an ultra cool, true vintage 1955 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop that was just recently acquired at the Fort Worth International Guitar Show. This is a late '55 featuring an original ABR-1 bridge & Stopbar tailpiece. The previous owner had the guitar professionally refinished & "aged" by Gord Miller from GM Vintage Restorations in Canada. The guitar was also professionally refretted making it a dynamite player! An excellent player's grade Goldtop & priced accordingly. Includes the original 4-latch Lifton case.
Cosmetic Condition: About what you would expect from a guitar approaching retirement age - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. There are two small filled holes on the bottom of the body near the strap button. Albeit most of this "relic" work was done by Gord, but it completes the overall vintage vibe of the guitar & displays a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Slender profile mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side-dots. Dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl trapezoid inlays. Professionally refretted & showing no fret wear. Original Kluson Deluxe tuners in good working condition. A couple of the tuners are slightly bent, but still function properly. Unoriginal nut with a width of 1 11/16"; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod functions fine.
Body: Solid mahogany body with maple top & cream binding. Original Stopbar tailpiece & ABR-1 bridge with nickel hardware. Single-ply cream pickguard & jackplate. Guitar weighs a delightful 8 lbs 10.7 oz - very light weight & exceptionally resonant!
Electronics: Original P-90 single coils with cream "soap bar" covers. Bridge - 8.15K ohms; Neck - 8.30K ohms. Dual volume & tone controls with gold speed knobs; 3-way toggle switch. All electronics are original in perfect working condition.
Case: Original 4-latch Lifton hardshell case included. The case is a bit rough, but all there & matches the look & feel of the guitar.
