Spaceman Effects' Sputnik III features NOS Soviet Germanium transistors and diodes, which are hand-selected for a decidedly warm, vintage-style fuzz tone. It can cover plenty of tonal ground, however, thanks to a four-knob interface with controls such as Scan, Calibrate (Tone), Range (Gain), and Signal (Volume), plus a three-way filter toggle switch. It also comes with a Drift mode that is operated via a corresponding footswitch for more experimental, self-oscillating sounds that can cause chaos in very musical and non-musical ways. This Drift mode has also been expanded from version 2 to now include momentary functionality. Another great feature of the Sputnik III is its 1590BB enclosure, which makes it much more pedalboard-friendly than previous versions.
