Description
Cosmetic Condition: Excellent condition for its age. Various minor nicks & dings & mild surface scratches. Overall the mandolin has a great look to it with a gorgeous patina! We recently acquired the mandolin from the brother of a guitar dealer who passed away some time ago. The dealer's relatives hung onto various instruments from his personal collection, with this mandolin being one of them. It has basically been kept in storage for over a decade & rarely ,if ever, played. There are two very superficial surface cracks near both points on the body. These types of cracks are common with F-style mandolins, but these two are very miniscule & do not affect playability or sound quality.
Neck: V-shaped mahogany neck with ivoroid binding & black dot inlays. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with no wear. Scroll headstock with mother of pearl The Gibson logo. Strip tuners with ivoroid buttons in perfect working condition. 1 1/4" nut width; 14" scale length.
Body: Two-point, scroll body with bound top. Solid spruce top with maple back & sides. Beautiful one-piece back. Internal braces are in great shape with no loose braces. Nickel tailpiece with The Gibson engraved cover. Compensated ebony bridge. Ivoroid & Herringbone rosette. Tortoise-style pickguard is in great shape with no cracks, however, part of the side bracket is missing.
Playability / Sound: Nice action - neck plays well & feels great. Gorgeous tone - very bright & powerful sounding with brilliant resonance!
Case: Original hardshell case included.
