Description
What makes this guitar special: An absolute gem & in marvelous condition for being 90 years old! The Jr is the most basic, stripped down version of Gibson's L series archtops. This one features an Adirondak spruce top with Birch back & sides. The V-shaped mahogany neck is absolutely massive & actually plays really well up & down the fretboard. Delivering a bright, punchy tone with tons of charm & character.
Cosmetic Condition: Great shape for its age with good, honest play wear & a cool vintage vibe - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. There's a small area on the bottom side of the body near the end pin that separated slightly from the back, but this is common for guitars from this era. It's not bad at all & does not affect playability or sound quality. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Super chunky V-shaped mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard & mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Open-back strip tuners are in good working condition. 1 3/4" nut width; 24 1/2" scale length. There is no truss rod, but the neck is so fat & straight it doesn't need one.
Body: Solid Adirondak spruce top with bound round soundhole & multi-ring rosette. Nickel trapeze tailpiece with unoriginal rosewood crossbar & black end pins. Floating rosewood bridge. Birch back & sides; both the top & back are arched. Guitar weighs 3 lbs 11 oz. There is no pickgup.
Case: Modern hardshell case included.
