Description
What makes this banjo special: 100% original & in great shape for its age. Recently acquired from the grandson of the original owner & shows normal play wear for being 85 years old! Very loud & resonant with a cool vintage vibe. Professionally set up by our luthier, so it plays & sounds amazing!
Cosmetic Condition: Typical play wear for its age - various minor nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. Overall the banjo has a great look to it with a beautiful patina.
Neck: Mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl diamond inlays. Mastertone inlay in the 19th fret. Frets show some wear & there's some pitting in the fingerboard, but there's plenty of life in them. Fiddle peghead with Grover Pat. tuners & ivoroid buttons in good working condition. 1 3/16" nut width; 23" scale length.
Body: Double-bound mahogany resonator with a two-piece pot-metal flange & forty-hole archtop tone ring. Grover Pat. Presto tailpiece & Nontip bridge. 11" diameter head with single-ply pearloid pickguard & nickel armrest. Banjo weighs 10.35 lbs.
Case: Original hardshell case included. The handle was replaced with a leather strap quite some time ago, but overall is in good shape.
