Description
Cosmetic Condition: Ultra cool, hand made archtop & a true vintage beauty! This guitar was played & it shows - there are various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & finish wear. There is a minor surface crack in the bottom of the body down by the strap button. Again this is only in the surface of the wood & does not penetrate all the way through. Also bear in mind the end block is on the other side, so that area is very stable. There is a very small gap between the neck heel & body. The neck joint is very tight & stable, however, with no playability issues. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a gorgeous patina. It's been professionally set up by us with a fresh pack of strings & low action, so it plays & sounds fantastic!
Neck: Chunky mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side-dots. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard shows some light pitting, but nothing major & no issues with playability. The guitar has been professionally refretted with jumbo frets which are in perfect condition with no wear. Mother of pearl floral fret inlays. Bound headstock with pearloid Gibson & floral inlays. Grover nickel open-back tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod functions fine.
Body: Double-bound archtop in sunburst finish with dual F-holes. Hand-carved solid spruce top with nickel trapeze tailpiece & floating rosewood bridge. Newer, reissue tortoise pickguard with 5-ply binding. The original pickguard most likely deteriorated & was therefore replaced. Hand carved solid arched maple back with some nice birdseye figuring. Solid flame maple sides. The guitar weighs about 5 1/2 lbs & is very resonant with a sharp, snappy tone & great sound projection.
Case: Vintage Ess & Ess faux alligator hardshell case included.
