Description

What makes this guitar special: Here’s an opportunity to own a piece of Fender history for a fraction of the market price. A previous owner had the guitar refinished and refretted long ago, but all the components are original and absolutely sing when plugged in. The hand-carved maple neck rests comfortably in hand, starting with a soft V that trends to a thick C-shape in the upper register and makes playing virtually effortless. Professionally setup and inspected by the experts at Cream City Music, it will arrive ready to play out of the case.

Cosmetic condition: Refinished in white with ample weather checking throughout. The finish covers the string ferrules, as seen in the photos. The pickup was professionally rewound by Lindy Fralin. The guitar showcases typical scratches, dents, dings, nicks, scuffs, and chips, along with visible pickwear on the guard. There is a small stress crack extending down from the low E-string tuner, and some visible oxidation on the hardware. The neck has been refretted and oversprayed, and the strap buttons are unoriginal. Overall, this one has a gorgeous look to it with a fabulous vintage patina.

Body: Solid ash body refinished in white with black pickguard. String-through bridge with triple barrel saddles. Original ashtray bridge cover included.

Weight: 7 lb, 8 oz

Neck: Hand-carved maple neck with black side dots and black dot inlays. 1 5/8” nut width, 25 1/2" scale length. Headstock sports the “spaghetti” Fender logo and original Kluson tuners in perfect working order. The neck has been refretted and oversprayed. Fingerboard and fingerboard edges show staining and wear consistent with age, but nothing that hinders playability. Frets are in great shape with a ton of life. Neck thickness measures .82” at the first fret, 1” at the 12th. Neck dates to October of ’54.

Electronics: Original pickup in the bridge (8.19k ohms), professionally rewound by Lindy Fralin. 3-way selector switch (dark circuit in forward position, adjustable tone in center position, bright circuit in back position). Pot codes have worn away with time. All electronics have been tested and are fully functional.

Case: Original thermometer case included. The exterior shows some wear and has been re-tolexed, but is in decent shape for its age and does its job. One of the latches does not close.
