Description

Here's an ideal opportunity to own a player's grade 50's Les Paul for a great price.  We recently acquired the guitar from the original owner who accidentally broke the neck in 1975.  The guitar was then sent off to Gibson for a neck replacement & complete refinish.  The original broken neck is included with the guitar along with the original Kluson Deluxe tuners.  The rest of the guitar is original & in perfect working condition.

Cosmetic Condition:  Cool vintage vibe - various minor nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & finish blemishes.  There's some really nice "greening" effect in the finish from years of play, particularly in the top of the body where the right arm would rest against it.  The back of the neck has an "orange peel" texture to it on the treble side, but does not affect playability.  Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a gorgeous patina.

Neck:  1975 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe neck that was professionally attached to the guitar by Gibson.  Dark rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl trapezoid inlays.  Original frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them.  Gibson Deluxe tuners in perfect working condition.  Gibson stamped the back of the headstock with the same serial number from the original neck, which is 40930.  1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length.  Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.  The original neck is included, but would require extensive professional work in order to put it back on the guitar.  The headstock snapped off & there's quite a bit of wood missing from the heel.  The guitar was originally finished in all gold.  Most of that gold finish has worn off the original neck, but is still prevalent on the back of the headstock.

Body:  Original, solid mahogany body with bound maple top & nickel, wrap-around tailpiece.  There are two post surrounds under the tailpiece.  They are glued to the top & are basically the same as the Rhythm Treble toggle switch surround.  We inspected the tailpiece posts & there is no damage so we're not sure why the discs were added - perhaps purely for cosmetics.  Single-ply cream pickguard is in great shape with no cracks or breaks.  Guitar weighs 9 lbs 4 oz.

Pickups:  Original P-90 soapbar single coils.  Bridge - 7.63K ohms; Neck - 7.53K ohms.  Dual volume & tone controls with original gold barrel knobs; 3-way toggle switch.  Pots & caps are original; all electronics are in perfect working condition.

Playability / Sound:  Nice, low action - plays like a brand new guitar!  Warm, rich tone with tons of sustain & fabulous dynamics.

Case:  The original 4-latch Lifton case is included, but has some damage to it.  Gibson included a hardshell case when the guitar was repaired back in '75, however that case's handle is broken.
