Description

Cosmetic Condition:  A well-played & much-loved authentic vintage guitar made in America.  Lots of wear & tear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & finish wear.  A lot of the gold hardware has tarnished or worn off & the body binding has shrunk a bit in the waist.  When we acquired the guitar the neck pickup had been replaced with a full sized humbucker, hence the route & extra screw holes in the top.  We had the original neck pickup rewound & replaced back in the guitar.  Some original wood had been removed in the pickup cavity when the humbucker was inserted, so our luthier built it back up a bit with some wood filler to support the original P-90.  The pickguard had been altered a bit as well to accommodate the previous humbucker.  Both pickups & all electronics are in perfect working condition.  The guitar has been professionally set up by us with a fresh set of .10-gauge strings & low action.  It delivers a warm, rich tone, is very light weight & tons of fun to play!  Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a gorgeous patina.

Neck:  Slim profile mahogany neck with ivoroid binding & black side-dots.  The binding has aged into a nice cream color & has a couple of small cracks.  Beautiful, dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with pearloid block inlays.  There is some pitting in the fingerboard, but the guitar is still quite playable.  Original frets show some wear, but still have plenty of life in them.  Mother of pearl Guild & Chesterfield headstock logos have aged nicely.  Original Kluson Deluxe tuners are in good working condition.  The G tuner button is unoriginal & the D tuner is slightly bent, but still functions properly.  1 5/8" nut width; 25" scale length.  Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.

Body:  Single-cutaway, hollow mahogany body with spruce top in sunburst finish.  Original Guild trapeze tailpiece with floating rosewood bridge & original 5-ply black pickguard.  There is an extra screw hole in the top of the guitar just underneath the middle of the pickguard.  3-ply top binding has aged nicely, but shows signs of shrinkage in the waist areas of the body.  There are no cracks in the body binding.  Guitar weighs a very comfortable 5 lbs 1.6 oz.

Pickups:  Original P-90 single coils with cream "soap bar" covers.  The neck pickup was dead when we acquired the guitar & had it professionally rewound.  Bridge - 6.65K ohms; Neck - 8.94K ohms.  Dual volume & tone controls with original knobs & 3-way toggle switch.  All electronics are in perfect working condition.

Case:  Original hardshell case included.  The case is also a bit rough & the handle has been taped up, but serves its purpose well.
