Description

What makes this guitar special: 100% original & in wonderful condition for its age. Some of you may know that the bodies for these National 1155 models were actually made by Gibson & as you can see it looks very much like a J-50. There's actually a Gibson factory order number on the neck block which dates to '58, however, the Valco serial number on the back of the headstock dates to '59. This one has a warm, rich, woody tone to it & the pickup actually sounds pretty good when plugged in. Professionally set up & ready to play upon arrival.

Cosmetic Condition: Various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & some finish wear. The back of the body appears to have chemically reacted to something in the case as there are various circular & oval images in the finish. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a wonderful patina.

Neck: Nicely rounded, medium profile, bolt-on mahogany neck with cream side-dots. Beautiful, dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with pretty much no wear. The pickup screws can be seen in the 19th fret. Bound headstock with raised National logo. Kluson Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.

Body: Slope shoulder dreadnought in natural finish. Solid spruce top with 3-ply binding. Rosewood bridge with cream end pins. Tortoise pickguard with 3-ply rosette. Mahogany back & sides with cream binding. Guitar weighs 5 lbs 6.3 oz.

Electronics: Single-coil neck pickup (9.67K Ohms) similar to what you'd find on a Gibson J-160E. Side-mounted master volume & tone controls with white skirted knobs. All electronics are in good working condition.

Case: Vintage Stone hardshell case included, along with original warranty card & vintage leather strap.
